The Nemo Lodge Gallery
Best of Show Winner
"Breathtaking Western Elegance" best describes this custom home built in 2007 in the center of Nemo, SD. The owners had the home designed and came to the Lage's to build the home. Together, the owners and the Lage team redesigned the home to make the difficult design work and flow in a cost affective and attractive manner. Tastefully decorated with an expert eye, beautiful antiques add to the charm. The gourmet family-style kitchen, with professional-grade appliances, granite countertops and a butlers pantry, is truly a showpiece of both design and function. The art room features a sky light that allows natural light to filter in. Conventionally built, the home gives the appearance of a log home but is highly energy efficient. Richly stained hand crafted half-log pine siding, with huge structural logs & logs accents harmonize with the rustic setting. Native moss rocks are sprinkled throughout to maintain the desired "western elegance" theme. With over 1500 square feet of covered log decking spanning the length of the home, you must just sit and enjoy the views. Volume describes the ceiling detail - the great room is graced with 17-foot ceilings, with massive log trusses used in framing detail and accents that create an open mood and 10-foot ceilings are found in the rest of the main level and the basement. Red oak #2 flooring is used throughout the house as well as richly colored tiles and travertine that make the rooms transition seamlessly. Beautiful cherry cabinets with great detail add elegance accented with the creative design. The great room features a floor to ceiling see-through gas fireplace finished with Black Hills slate, two log mantles and rock specifically picked by the family. The lower level features a see-through gas fireplace finished in brick to replicate the Stamp Mill in Lead, SD.
